Liberal Democrat MP suspended from party after police probe

Liberal Democrat MP Cameron Thomas has been suspended from the party pending the outcome of a police investigation.

Cameron Thomas was arrested by Gloucestershire Police on Wednesday night, it is understood.

A party spokesperson says: ‘Cameron Thomas MP has had the party whip suspended pending the outcome of a police investigation.

‘We are unable to comment further while the police investigation is ongoing.’

The MP for Tewkesbury started his career in politics having called time on a 23- year Royal Air Force career which saw him deployed to Iraq, the Falklands and Oman.

He has previously hit out at Elon Musk calling his interest in Southport riots was based on the billionaire’s ‘nostalgia for white supremacy’.

Mr Thomas travelled to Kyiv in March to deliver aid and was named on a Russian stop list.

The MP said the ban didn’t make ‘any immediate changes’ to his travel plans and gave him ‘the greatest possible endorsement’ of his parliamentary activity.
