505 Games have released update 0.5 for Assetto Corsa Rally, following the team’s announcement last week. It’s the biggest update the game has seen so far, bringing Greece into the game with two World Rally Championship-inspired stages, adding the first phase of online multiplayer and a major overhaul on physics.
The new Greece content includes Loutraki and Elatia, two stages built around the rough, fast and punishing feel of Greek rally roads. Loutraki starts near town before climbing into the hills of Aghii Theodori with dusty roads, rocks along the edges and quick sections that give drivers room to lean on the car, slide it around and still pay for mistakes. Elatia runs between Elatia and Zeli and has a different kind of danger to it. It is wide and fast, but the rocks, ruts and sweeping corners mean there is not much room to get lazy. The speed is there if players trust the car, but the stage asks for precision the whole way through.
Update 0.5 also adds the first version of online multiplayer. Players can host or join public and private lobbies for up to 16 drivers in single-stage events with options for weather, car restrictions and live spectating. Developer-managed ACR Lobbies will also be available so players have open sessions to jump into, while multiplayer events will rotate through two standard weekly events and one premium event running from Friday through Sunday.
The physics side gets a major overhaul too as the tire model has been revised with an updated peak slip angle formula, surfaces now have their own behavior settings and soft terrain reacts with new longitudinal and lateral bulldozing effects. Camber behavior has been improved, experimental stick-slip vibrations have been added for more road feedback and the Greece stages introduce a new dynamic ideal line. KUNOS has also rebalanced surfaces, cars and setup presets across the game, so update 0.5 should feel different well beyond the new stages. Check out the full patch notes on the official Steam page.
