College Football 27 Sights, Sounds and Presentation Details Revealed
EA Sports shared a detailed look at how presentation, atmosphere and school identity are being expanded in College Football 27 with Design Director Christian Brandt explaining that the team’s focus this year was making every game feel closer to an actual Saturday on campus.
According to Brandt, the guiding philosophy remains “More Like Saturday,” with developers putting significant effort into capturing the traditions, sounds and visuals that make college football unique. The goal was to make each school feel distinct before the opening kickoff through elements like entrances, mascots, fight songs, student sections, chants, uniforms and other traditions that fans immediately recognize.
Much of this year’s work centers around three major areas: authenticity, presentation and customization. Developers have added new traditions, mascots, light shows, drone shows, chants, rivalry trophies and atmosphere moments designed to better reflect individual schools. Student sections also received attention with more than 30 authentic banners added along with over 90 new or updated team chants. More than 35 mascots are scheduled to be available at launch with additional mascots planned through future title updates.
The team also focused heavily on the smaller details that help build immersion. Coaches now wear headsets on the sidelines, new coach models have been added, more than 55 schools received updated pyrotechnics during runouts and 32 schools now feature new band tunnel formations. Crowd animations, cheerleader reactions, band formations, custom back plates, stadium camera angles and school-specific crowd themes have also been expanded.

Rivalry games received special treatment as well. Developers wanted those matchups to carry more weight, leading to additional presentation elements, unique commentary, rivalry trophies and more intense on-field interactions designed to reflect the importance of those games.
Road to Glory has been updated with a new presentation system that allows players to remain connected to the action when they’re not on the field. Instead of cutting away, players can watch the game unfold from the sideline, follow key moments and experience celebrations and dramatic finishes from a player’s perspective.
Several stadium updates are also included this year, highlighted by the addition of Ryan Field for Northwestern. Other schools receiving notable stadium improvements include Eastern Michigan, Missouri, Memphis, Boise State and Army.
One of the most requested additions from the community is finally making its way into the game with the arrival of the Heisman Trophy Ceremony. The feature will appear in both Dynasty and Road to Glory, allowing players to experience the award presentation and hear the winner announced by Chris Fowler.
Equipment customization has also grown considerably. New additions include hanging mouthpieces, team-logo towels, smaller shoulder pads, rolled-up jerseys, updated undershirts, reflective clear visors, waist-mounted play sheets, captain patches and other equipment options designed to better mirror what players wear on Saturdays.
College Football 27 also introduces a completely redesigned broadcast package. New graphics, overlays, player spotlight features, halftime updates and quarter-transition sequences were created to help tell the story of each game as it unfolds. Developers say the broadcast presentation now does a better job tracking momentum swings, standout performances, changing weather conditions and key moments throughout a matchup.
Presentation improvements extend into commentary as well. ESPN sideline reporter Holly Rowe joins the game this year, bringing updates on injuries, weather, player performances and game flow. Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt also joins the broadcast booth, adding another voice to the game’s playoff and big-game coverage. Commentary itself has been expanded with greater contextual awareness. The broadcast team now reacts more directly to seasonal performances, rivalry storylines, player trends and major developments happening within a game.
Dynamic weather is another major addition. Rain and snow can now intensify as games progress, creating changing field conditions and new gameplay challenges. Players may experience reduced traction, tougher catches, increased ball-security concerns and more difficult kicking situations as conditions worsen. Weather effects also leave a visible impact on the field and uniforms, with added wear and degradation throughout a game.
Alongside returning stadium tracks and fight songs, the soundtrack includes 19 new marching-band-style pop covers. EA Sports also partnered with The Carolina Band from the University of South Carolina to update the Campus Clash theme and add new musical elements throughout the menus and game presentation.
Players can now select crowd themes for individual games, allowing them to recreate special stadium environments like whiteouts, blackouts, stripe-outs and other school traditions. Camera customization has also been overhauled with more than 16 modular camera options available, giving players greater control over how the game is presented on screen.
