India Cuts Russian Oil Imports as Latin American Supplies Gain Ground

Indian oil importers significantly reduced purchases of Russian crude during the spring of 2026 as the country increasingly turned to suppliers from Latin America and Africa. According to data from Kpler cited by Interfax, average daily imports of Russian oil into India have fallen by nearly 29.4 percent since March. In April, Russian oil shipments to India averaged around 1.6 million barrels per day.
