IMPRESSIONS OF AN ANCIENT LANDSCAPE
'Philip Huckin and Pete Davis: Impressions of an Ancient Landscape ' is a new exhibition that opened on Saturday 13 June at MoMA, Machynlleth.
The new two person show has a Phillip Huckin and photographer Pete Davis explore the ancient woodlands of the important Cistercian Abbey and settlement of Strata Florida, Pontrhydfendigaid in Ceredigion.

Over twenty years ago Pete Davis made photographs in the woodlands of Strata Florida as a part of his major exhibition and book In Wildwood. This colour work was seen throughout the UK and travelled to Europe and the USA. After being invited to contribute to a new book of the woodlands to be published next year, the Ceridigion-based photographer has returned to the forest to make new work—this time in black and white—and printed by him using the rare platinum / palladium process. These beautiful hand-made prints offer a new perspective on the woodland and allow the viewer another perspective to appreciate the complexity of the environment.

Photographer Mohamed Hassan has started a new series of photozines to share selected new work made on his travels in and beyond Wales.
When Mo approached me and asked if we could collaborate on the design of the new series, I was happy to agree have early sight of his draft sequencing of the previously unseen work for each book, and the impressive volume of new photography he's been making following the success of his OUR HIDDEN ROOM photobook published in early 2025.
We're both delighted with the format of this new series, with the larger 200 x 260mm dimensions allowing more breathing room for the photographs and spreads. Larger than A5 but smaller than A4, and they feel great in the hand. FISSION has all-black and white images, whilst DUNGENESS and BRIGHTON have some colour images included.
All three photozines are available to order direct from Mo's website now.

NEWPORT ZOOPORT - photobook now available
Photographer Ron McCormick, whose ongoing series The Streets of Newport featured in an exhibition as part of the recent EYE Festival, has now released his A4 size 100-page softcover book with an expanded selection of photographs.
Self-published through his Communimedia imprint, NEWPORT ZOOPORT: The Streets of Newport is McCormick's ongoing personal study of the city he's called home since moving therein 1979. There's a very insightful FOREWORD by the photographer that sets the scene for the city and the photographs that follow.
I've had my copy of the book for just over a week now and still working my way through it, so will aim to share my thoughts in a short review in the next Newsletter.
NEWPORT ZOOPORT: The Streets of Newport is available direct from the photographer for £20 or as a special edition accompanied by a 180mm x 270mm print on A4-sized Hahnemühle Photo Pearle 310gsm paper. More info on the website below.

MARC WILSON : PHOTOZINES
Perhaps better know for his long term documentary projects and the resulting, very impressive, self-published photobooks, Marc Wilson has embraced the photozine format and now has four titles in 2026 available thus far.
As some will be aware, Marc was a guest speaker at a previous May 2025 SIGNATURES event in The Turner House in Penarth, where we discussed his route into self-publishing his own books.
Marc very kindly agreed to an online follow-up conversation with me to discuss his new photozines, the topics they cover, and why he's enjoying designing and publishing them. Our conversation lasted an hour! - but you can listen to a short excerpt below.
Subscriber supporters can listen to the full conversation, split into two halves, with the first part available later in this Newsletter.
