Skeleton Trivia for Monday, 2026-04-06
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
Long time no see, eh? Hope the past coupla weeks have treated youse guys OK.
“How’re things over by you, Mr. S,” I can hear ya askin. Well, first off, thanks for checkin in, I’m doin pretty good. Longtime readers’ll know that last year I took on a big new venture, I opened up a li’l movieplex in town near Micimec University. Things’ve been chuggin along on that front – though if I’m bein honest, I feel like attendance hasn’t been super great. So I’ve been thinkin of runnin a kinda PR stunt or two to get some folks in the doors here.
OK, on to the trivias!!!
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
What word does Wiktionary define as “the ancient Mediterranean ritual based on the belief that bees were spontaneously generated from a cow’s carcass”? It’s notably NOT pronounced like a type of flower named for a French colonial governor, as I’m sure Emma Stone could tell ya.
Trivia 2
So just in case ya were confused: bees aren’t actually spontaneously generated from cow carcasses. I know, I know, it might SEEM like they are – I mean, who ’mongst us HASN’T taken a look at a dead bovid & thought to themselves, “Clearly, bees!” – but as it turns out, nah!
In point of fact, female bees come from eggs laid by queens & fertilized by drones. (Male bees come from unfertilized eggs, natch.) Pretty standard stuff. But how do ya get a queen? Simple! The female worker bees who’re in charge of feedin bee larvae make sure to give the li’l queen plenty of what substance that’s got special proteins in it to help the larva grow into a full-fledged honest-to-goodness queen bee?
Some humans’ll also take this stuff ’cause I guess they think it’s got anti-inflammatory properties or that it might help with menopause symptoms, I dunno. I mean, it might?? But I ain’t a doctor! Don’t take your dietary advice from a trivia newsletter, I guess is all I’m sayin.
