Tuesday, 24 Mar

Tue, 6:45pm & 7:45pm: Superintelligent Sentimental. This is the first performance of the project Superintelligent Sentimental, where a science fiction world is formed by interweaving speculative writing and music. The performance takes place alongside the release of a music EP and a book of fictive verse, prose and dialogue. Esplanade Concourse. Free.

Tue, 7pm: Propositions for Planetary Attunement. What happens when artists and scientists find common ground in shared concerns and collective care for ecological complexities? Emerging from a year-long exchange between the artists and the researchers from the NTU Earth Observatory of Singapore, the programme explores the generative potential of interdisciplinary encounters, experimenting with the composition of scientific knowledge into artistic gestures of ecological witnessing, listening, and becoming. Fri, 6:45pm: Outspoken: May the best words win. Outspoken returns to Esplanade, with a twist! Two teams of poets will try to out-rhyme, out-rhythm and out-metaphor each other in a show of sass and substance. Selected audience members will get to score the poets and provide words that they must use in an uproarious round of improvisation. Esplanade Concourse. Free.

Fri, 7pm: Locus Amoenus: An Ideal Place. Locus Amoenus, or “An Ideal Place”, deals with the themes of Identity, wandering, and longing. Born out of feeling othered in a supposed ideal place, pianist Saki Sakai and tenor Zachary Dominguez take listeners on a journey everyone is familiar with, finding where Home could possibly be, told through the songs of Franz Schubert, Henri Duparc, Benjamin Britten, and Singapore’s own Chen Zhangyi.
