World Logic Day

January 14, 2026
World Logic Day, celebrated today, 14 January, was proclaimed by UNESCO to highlight the importance of logic as a fundamental pillar of philosophy, the sciences, and critical and rational thought. This date is also symbolic: it marks the birth of Alfred Tarski and the death of Kurt Gödel, two philosophers who were decisive for contemporary logic and for twentieth-century philosophy. In a context marked by disinformation and polarisation, such as the one we are currently living in, logic is essential for arguing rigorously, conceptualising clearly, and problematising in a well-founded manner. Celebrating this day is therefore a way of reaffirming the value of philosophy as a rational and critical exercise in the service of understanding the world and ourselves.
