Two movies tonight! Eyes of Laura Mars (1978), which was WRITTEN but not directed by John Carpenter, and Big Trouble in Little China by John Carpenter feat. Kurt Russell. Eyes of Laura Mars looks like it could be very interesting or very terrible with no in between, and all I’ve heard about BTiLC is that it is fun and entertaining so it should at least make for a good chaser if the first movie sucks. We will will start P R O M P T L Y at 4:30PM Eastern US time and have only a 5 minute intermission, which will barely get us done by the regular nighttime movie slot.

Big Trouble in Little China (1986)

A departure from Carpenter’s usual horror fare, this is an action comedy. The film tells the story of truck driver Jack Burton (Russell), who helps his friend Wang Chi (Dun) rescue Wang’s green-eyed fiancée from bandits in San Francisco’s Chinatown. They go into the mysterious underworld beneath Chinatown, where they face an ancient sorcerer named David Lo Pan (Hong), who requires a woman with green eyes to marry him in order to be released from a centuries-old curse. 1h39m long.
