(2nd of May) As I write this, there is a huge spider in the corner of the room. I don't really care if it just chills in one of the far corners but it's crawling around smh.
(8th of May) Well, that spider's gone now. Anyhow, I've been holding onto this post for a week it seems, whew.
(9th of May) I think I finally have a bit of time to finish this post.
Journaling
It's been a bit over a month since 03-29, which is when I mainly started doing these posts regularly. I've had this notes site / Obsidian vault for a while before then. I don't know what it is, but I've been quite enjoying writing these journal-type pages regularly. I've talked about it before in my previous notes, but it's nice to just get my thoughts down and summarise what I've been doing for the past few days.
Blogging on the Atmosphere
This has been a bit of a project over the past few days. I've essentially set up a two-way sync between this Notes site and my ATProto blog posts. More details here: Using Leaflet and Obsidian/Quartz together
TL;DR: Any posts I write on Leaflet or Pckt are automatically archived to Blogs every hour using a custom script. Also, I can publish select pages from this website as a standard.site record, meaning that they become discoverable on sites like Leaflet.
For future improvements, it would be neat to add proper ATProto commenting support to notes I publish. Currently, I use my Quartz Bluesky Comments plugin to use Bluesky replies as comments on specific pages. But, since Leaflet has it's own method for leaving comments, it may be neat if visitors could log in with their Atmosphere account directly on my website to leave comments linked to the standard.site record. Maybe using Leaflet's comment records? Not sure entirely how it all works, but it would be a neat entry into making my own Atmosphere project in a way. I do want to work on one in the future.
Gaming
Nier: Automata
As for other things I've been up to, I'm still playing through Nier: Automata. Just reached the castle for the first time. That's also where I died for the first time because I got stunlocked by a worm...
But the more I play this game, the more I enjoy it. My oooold original save had maybe 9-10 hours on it but I've reached way further than I got before, despite having less playtime on my new save. Watching the Nier Automata anime is making me want to focus on the main story here, I'm not really doing much exploration / side quests.
I'm getting more used to the controls. I think the default controller layout just sucks, but the second preset (which swaps the trigger and bumper buttons) makes much more sense to me.
Tomodachi Life
After seeing a bunch of stuff about this game, I finally decided to start playing it. It's pretty great! I'm still early on, but it's fun to just mess around with making characters. Reminds me a bit of animal crossing, though a bit different.
Here's my current Miis...

Steam Controller
Beyond that, Steam Controller is finally out! I managed to place my order within a few minutes of the page launching, after a few attempts. I'm hoping it arrives next week, it's already dispatched from Netherlands, might take a few days to arrive in the UK.
VRChat
Not much more to add on the VRC front here. Doing some more world hopping here and there, fun fun.
Also, I like the new space-themed accessories :D
Still a lot of discourse around about avatar optimisation lately. We have performance gating now, which allows groups to block very poor avatars across the entire instance. It's a great feature, I love seeing groups starting to use it for events. Anyone who's complaining should just learn to optimise, skill issue. But hey, I'm trying to help, there's some tips in Avatar Optimisation in Unity.
End
Well, this post took longer to write somehow lmao. I did say it may be better to do these weekly rather than every few days an I inadvertently ended up doing that here. Oh well, bye for now reader!
