Following her artistic teaser campaign, Sarah Burton made her official menswear debut at Givenchy, kicking off a highly anticipated new era at Paris Fashion Week. Shunning massive, detached stadium spaces, the presentation unfolded inside the brand’s intimate home address in Paris, arranging the Spring/Summer 2027 collection across a triptych of rooms staged in direct dialogue with structural sculptures by British artist Rachel Whiteread. Here Burton focuses her initial creative energy on reconstructing classic, exacting Givenchy archetypes, completely softening the masculine silhouette into an intimate wardrobe built to be lived in. “I wanted this to feel very personal and intimate, and to reflect the conversations that I have with the friends of the house,” Burton explained backstage. That reset begins with familiar menswear staples: the Prince of Wales check suit, the pinstripe, the white shirt, the coat and the tracksuit are all taken apart and reconstructed through her couture-trained eye. The traditional suit is sliced, its lapel shifted and its proportions altered, creating a silhouette that still respects tailoring while refusing its expected rules.
