"textContent": "Van Cleef & Arpels has been unashamedly obsessed with Egypt for over a century and its new high jewellery collection, ‘Fascinating Egypt,’ is the ultimate proof. Comprising some 180 breathtaking pieces, the collection marks a spectacular continuation of a love affair that officially kicked off in 1922, when Howard Carter’s team cracked open Tutankhamun’s tomb. The global frenzy that followed shook the design world, and the French jeweller wasted no time crafting its iconic 1920s ‘Egyptian Pattern’ pieces – including an emerald and onyx bracelet from 1924, a long necklace from 1923 strung with platinum and gemstones, and a brooch from 1925 depicting figures in profile against diamond settings. Ten of these survive in the house’s patrimonial collection today. “For many years, the Maison has wished to prolong the story and present its own vision of this ancient heritage,” says Catherine Renier, President and CEO of Van Cleef & Arpels.
