Erdem has launched a limited-edition Pride t-shirt in collaboration with legendary Bloomsbury bookshop Gay’s The Word to directly support three vital LGBTQIA+ charities: akt, Not A Phase, and the Terrence Higgins Trust. Retailing for £120, the project channels 100% of its profits equally between the organisations, funding national initiatives for youth homelessness, trans+ adult advocacy, and the ongoing fight against HIV. The t-shirt features archival artwork by Derek Jarman, the radical British filmmaker, painter and political activist. The printed graphic is pulled from ‘Bliss,’ an early zine by Jarman that served as the blueprint for his final, deeply personal masterwork, ‘Blue.’ The piece captures the final years of Jarman’s life living with AIDS, a period during which his deteriorating eyesight left him navigating what he described as a permanent “haze of blue.” For Creative Director Erdem Moralioğlu, the artist’s uncompromising legacy serves as a timely reminder that “there is always beauty amidst the chaos.” To mark the launch, Moralioğlu photographed British actor Russell Tovey in the garment to celebrate Jarman’s enduring impact on contemporary culture.
