Maison Valentino brought a slice of Parisian haute couture to Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, taking over the Marciano Art Foundation for an exclusive cocktail gathering. Hosting an incredibly stylish crowd, Creative Director Alessandro Michele and CEO Riccardo Bellini celebrated the launch of ‘Specula Mundi’ by Mark Borthwick, a limited-edition book that reinterprets the surreal narrative of Michele’s debut Haute Couture show presented in Paris earlier this year. A Kaiserpanorama installation recreated the original Parisian scenography, pulling guests into an immersive loop of Borthwick’s imagery. The crowd reflected this cross-pollination of couture and culture, with Tate McRae, Teyana Taylor and Sombr (among other talents) stepping into Michele’s intricate world. The spotlight sat firmly on the intersection of craft and contemporary stardom, proving that Valentino’s new era under Michele is as much about community as it is about the clothes. Produced in a numbered run of just 1,500 copies, the book represents a rare collector’s object.
