  "textContent": "Dirk Bikkembergs walked into a meeting in 1999, placed a ball on the table and completely altered the trajectory of his eponymous label. Sport and style operated in entirely separate universes before the turn of the millennium. Young people had started shifting their aspirations away from traditional runway aesthetics towards athletic ambition and success. Recognising that cultural shift early allowed the Belgian designer to build an aesthetic that remains heavily referenced today. Now, Bikkembergs is officially embarking on a major relaunch journey this year, stripping back to the core pillars established during its 1986 founding. “Our goal is to bring soccer to everyone, to make it part of their everyday lives,” says the designer. “To do that, we need to reach a new generation, one that can become our future audience, and help them understand what soccer has truly meant over time.” Reclaiming those original codes naturally starts with footwear.
