The ancient tufa walls of Bassano in Teverina, having spent decades soaking up the creative energy of American artist Cy Twombly, now serve as a silent partner to Alessandro Michele’s latest vision for Valentino. The Pre-Autumn 2026 collection unfolds within a home that feels like a laboratory of time, where dust and stone enter a dialogue with the garments. An intimate, almost uncanny narrative runs through the campaign, touching on the human anxiety of self-imitation and the tension of being poised for change. Michele describes the project as a “reactivation of a genealogy of the gaze,” threading a line of continuity back to a 1968 Vogue US shoot in Twombly’s Roman flat. Brand ambassador and singer Sombr, alongside model Apolline Rocco Fohrer lead the cast with untamed hair and elusive gazes, moving through the rooms like echoes of the artist himself. Photographer Johnny Dufort captures the pair in moments of hesitation, making the environment feel sensitive to their every move.
