Directed by artist couple Sam Bates & Andrew White of Indie Studios, “Scenes from a Marriage” is a neo-noir art film that dissects the bitter end of love through a surrealist fashion lens. Inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s powerful mini-series of the same name, it follows a couple whose broken marriage exposes them both to temptation, seduction and deception after a fight drives them both into the darkened streets of downtown Manhattan. A husband so starved for love that he finds himself lost inside a purgatory composed of his own sexual fantasies, pursued by a wife so determined to catch her husband in a lie that she is willing to manifest one, this film begs the question, “ is there anything more terrifying than a husband and wife who hate each other?” Excitement, danger and infidelity ensue in the erotic underworld that is New York City by night. direction + photography.
