Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid kicked off at the iconic Palacio de Cibeles. Its Crystal Gallery offered a stunning backdrop, reflecting the vibrant Spanish fashion scene. Schön! was granted exclusive access backstage to discover firsthand the autumn/winter 2026 collections before they stepped onto the runway. First up was Juan Vidal, with over twenty years in the industry. He welcomed us warmly and guided us through the collection that earned him Best National Designer at MBFWMadrid this year. ‘Eden’ was inspired by a spontaneous trip to Turkey. “In Istanbul, I found ancient pieces that I reworked. It’s a mix of cultures: Orient and Occident,” Vidal explained. The collection combined textures, ruffles and vibrant colours. “Like a patchwork, we used prints from Japan, India and the Mediterranean,” he added. The first looks were airy and used soft shades of pastel pink and baby blue. The floral prints gradually evolved into deep purples and structured silhouettes. Toward the end, the palette shifted dramatically to all-black dresses. Commanding the runway, Spanish top model Miriam Sánchez, was chosen to close the show.
