Sherry Cola, an actress and a comedian, is having her moment. She’s a powerhouse, and her latest performance in ‘Shrinking’ proves that. In the third season of the critically acclaimed show, she plays Maya, a lost and wandering soul, who, although prejudiced and rather cynical, still decides to try therapy. Her shrink, Gaby (Jessica Williams), tries to help Maya, yet she realises it’s not gonna be a piece of cake. A dark cloud hangs over Maya. Will Gaby be able to help? Or is it already too late? While talking to Schön!, Sherry Cola discusses her performance, navigating the show’s many challenging themes, being part of, perhaps, ‘Shrinking’s’ darkest storyline yet, and also doing therapy on her own. Do you consider yourself to be more of a comedy or drama actress? I come from comedy, but my first huge opportunity was actually ‘Good Trouble,’ which was more of a drama, really. That was five seasons of my life, and the bulk of it was spent crying. As much as comedy is such a passion, which is my baby girl, it is drama that challenges me as a performer.
