Planta Industrial lives between worlds. They are authentically New York and alt-Dominican, familiar but completely new, and that duality runs throughout everything they make. Schön! met the duo, Aka the Darknight and Saso, on a cold New York day and asked them to take us to a place that felt like home. There was still snow on the ground when we arrived at Tony’s, a seafood spot in City Island, deep in the Bronx. Eating oysters and lobster on a freezing day felt like the perfect metaphor for their music: unexpected and full of contrast. We hit up a neighbourhood bodega afterwards, another place that speaks to who they are. Sonically, everything is on the table with Planta Industrial. Punk drums, breakbeats, synths and drum machines.
