Jammu and Kashmir Placed in Highest Seismic Zone-VI; No Comprehensive Risk Plan Yet

The government has informed the Legislative Assembly that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been placed in Seismic Zone-VI, the highest seismic risk category. Despite this, no comprehensive risk mitigation and disaster preparedness plan is currently under consideration, though a high-level committee for hazard assessment has been formed.
