Glyphosate free streets
AS has been investigating the possibility of Park Street becoming a glyphosate free street and asked if there was a template to distribute to streets.
** Following the meeting SA found the following information on the council website
If your street would like to opt out:
- Hold a majority ballot of all households. Use our pdfballot template (pdf, 96 KB).
- Once the result confirms a majority, complete and sign the docxopt out request letter (docx, 680 KB).
- Send the signed letter and a copy of the ballot by email to the Street Scene Team at streetscene@bristol.gov.uk. You should also copy in your local councillor or councillors. Find your local councillor here.
Once we receive your request and it’s approved, your street will be removed from the glyphosate spraying rota and Bristol Waste will be informed.
St Luke’s Crescent is also considering becoming glyphosate free and a resident has undertaken door knocking. SA to check if TRESA could follow St Luke’s Crescent as a case study. Action: SA
Bees
A new brood box has been constructed. More of the old equipment has been sterilised and can be reused. After a recent inspection, the group have been advised to buy a nuc hive as there are a lot of bees and they are raising new queens in preparation for swarming. Action: AS
Grant application for community space
AS is applying for small grants for planters, and hoping for plant donations of herbs which people like having access to. Action: AS
