Rotation Roundup - Just Look for Healthy Pitchers

Managing a fantasy team isn’t an easy endeavor. Fun, exciting, frustrating, and a ton of other adjectives can be used, but the reward is a good one. However, it doesn’t seem that way when it’s a challenge to find nine healthy pitchers to put in your lineup each week. And then asking them not to destroy your ratios is the next step. Let’s take a look around the league at the latest starting pitcher news. Yes, there is a lot.

While things are improving with Crochet’s shoulder and lat, it’s still not good enough for him to resume throwing. That means we still don’t have a timetable for Crochet’s return, and it has to be frustrating when dealing with your first-round pick. At this point, how many starts can we reasonably expect from Crochet over the remainder of the season? The fact that the Red Sox are quickly spiraling out of contention doesn’t make things better.

Brandon Woodruff, Milwaukee Brewers

What rust? Woodruff didn’t look like his last start was April 30th as the right-hander promptly retired the first 16 batters he faced. Overall, he allowed just one hit in six scoreless innings while also striking out 10. Hopefully, Woodruff was activated across all leagues; if not, he needs to be.

Hunter Greene, Cincinnati Reds

Sunday is it. If all goes well in Greene’s last rehab start, then we’ll see the right-hander make his season debut in his next start. It’s a long time coming for those who have stared at Greene on their benches or in an Injured Reserve slot since the beginning of the season. Should he be available, run, don’t walk, to correct that. Greene is already in the 80-85 pitch range while hitting high 90’s with his fastball and striking out nine batters in eight innings. The Reds will still take things slowly with Greene; he should go right back into your lineup.
