"textContent": "Under intermittent light rain on a cool night, dozens of scouts filled the bleachers behind home plate at Beach Field in Attleboro, Massachusetts. About an hour after Bishop Feehan’s softball team clinched a spot in the Massachusetts Division 1 Round of 16, their baseball team was seeking to do the same. They were heavy favorites to do so, partly because they are the No. 2 seed in the tournament, but mostly because of the 6-foot-9, 250-pound left-hander on the mound whose fastball can reach triple digits.\n\nBrody Bumila didn’t need nearly that much velocity, as upper-80s proved more than enough to carve up an overmatched Andover team. He dialed it up in two-strike counts, sat at 93–96 mph in the more competitive plate appearances, and touched 98. It took 85 pitches to complete five shutout innings, allowing three walks and just one infield single. He threw 57 strikes, recording 12 strikeouts and 20 whiffs, all on the fastball. The elements picked up in his first and last innings, contributing to 22- and 24-pitch frames that showed less consistent command of the strike zone.\n\n### This post is for subscribers only\n\nBecome a member to get access to all content\n\nSubscribe now",
