To start the day, veteran lefty Evan Blanco worked quickly through the Pirate order in the 1st and 2nd, highlighted by a diving grab in left by Sophomore Blaine Brown. On the other side, Junior lefty Ryan Towers sat down the first 10 batters he faced. Junior catcher Garrett Wright nearly put the Volunteers out front with a leadoff flyout to the wall in left center, but Towers quickly settled in. In the 3rd, Blanco ran into some trouble after allowing back to back hits to Austin Irby and Nick Parham, but the Vols quickly stranded them with a 6-4-3 double play. He worked around another 1 out single in the 4th.\n\nIn the bottom half, Blake Grimmer struck first for the Volunteers with a 382-foot moonshot over the RF wall at 108 mph. The Pirates were quickly able to respond in the 5th by manufacturing a run off a double by Austin Irby and a single to center by Nick Parham. In the bottom half, Towers' day came to an end after allowing a leadoff double to Reese Chapman. He was followed by Liberty transfer Joseph Webb, who fielded a sac bunt by Manny Marin and then got Blaine Brown to line into a double play. In the 6th, Blanco allowed a 1-out single to Braden Burress, who promptly stole 2B, which was confirmed after a Tennessee challenge. On the next pitch, Davin Whitaker sent a single into RF, but Brayden Burress was cut down at the plate by Vol RF Reese Chapman.\n\n### This post is for subscribers only\n\nBecome a member to get access to all content\n\nSubscribe now",
