The Lineup Card Week 8
Welcome back to The Lineup Card, a weekly article here at Prospects Live this season that covers developments and changes related to playing time, lineup position, bullpen usage, and more. Time and again, it has been shown that the most successful fantasy teams are the ones that accumulate the most playing time, and this article is here to help you clue in to playing time and usage trends that will allow you to make the smart pickups before your league mates see them coming.
As the season enters its middle third, tough lineup decisions are starting to open up playing opportunities for other players. An infielder in Baltimore may start to lose playing time, the Mets called up two more rookies this week, and what is going on at second base in Texas? It is all here and more in this week’s edition of The Lineup Card.

Henry Bolte is the new starting CF in Sacramento - SIGNAL
I know I covered Henry Bolte’s call-up last week, but there was a development this week that absolutely cemented Bolte as the A’s center fielder for the foreseeable future when Denzel Clarke left his rehab assignment in Las Vegas with what has been called a high-grade hamstring strain. I think there was a real question of how much playing time Clarke would claw back from Bolte when he did return, but now the job appears Bolte’s to hold down, with Lawrence Butler playing the role of fourth outfielder. There is no need to go on too long here, but the signal is blaring for the toolsy Bolte at this point, and it feels like his job to lose.
Coby Mayo’s leash is shortening, Jackson Holliday in a platoon? - SIGNAL
Coby Mayo did not have a clear path to playing time heading into 2026, but injuries to Jordan Westburg and Jackson Holliday gave the former top prospect his first stretch of sustained playing time in the big leagues. Unfortunately, aside from a massive home run at Yankee Stadium, Mayo has done little to solidify himself at third base long term. His .183/.257/.333 slash line and 30% strikeout rate have not cost him playing time yet, but Holliday returned from the injured list this week, and was notably seeing time at third base during his rehab assignment.
The first three games of Holliday’s return have maybe created more questions than they have answered, as he sat two of his first three games back while the Orioles continued to find at-bats for Jeremiah Jackson, Weston Wilson, and Blaze Alexander against southpaws. Holliday hit just .200 against lefties last year, but it is reasonable to think there is room to grow in that regard for the former number-one prospect in baseball who will be just 22 years old all season. That being said, it is possible Baltimore just want to ease Holliday back, and we will know more over the coming week about their plans here.
Kyle Manzardo losing playing time in Cleveland - NOISE
Kyle Manzardo was a buzzy hitter coming into the season after belting 27 home runs in just 531 plate appearances last year, but his age-25 season hasn’t exactly gone as planned as he has managed just a .222/.303/.356 slash line with a 32.2% strikeout rate to go along with four home runs. It was noteworthy that Cleveland brought in Rhys Hoskins before the season, seemingly to hedge against any potential struggles Manzardo may have. Hoskins has now started the past two games against righties after primarily seeing at bats against lefties throughout the season. This may be the Guardians attempt to give Manzardo a few days to clear his head, as he has continued to hit fourth against righties basically all season, but it is worth pointing out that Guardians top prospect Ralphy Velazquez was just promoted to Triple-A after demolishing Double-A pitching. I am labeling this as noise for now, but Velazquez could push the issue over the next month and we will be having a very different conversation if Manzardo's bat hasn't heated up.
