PLIVE+ Deep Sea Diving: Don't Call it a Comeback (05/19/26)

Prospects Live May 20, 2026
Source

In this series, I'll be using PLIVE+, Prospect Live's secret weapon (which all MVP and Hall of Fame subscribers have access to), to uncover the next breakout prospects before anyone else. This week we're focusing on prospects that have caught my eye in previous seasons, a few more 2025 picks, a forgotten first rounder, and a complex league breakout. It's time to move on from struggling players that peaked in 2024 and start searching for the next potential big thing. Follow me @high_upside on X, and I'll be back Friday with this week's pitching prospects.

Malcolm Moore, C, TEX

22 yo, High-A, 4% rostered on Fantrax, PL+ career/year 101/91 (-1.7 monthly change)

The LHH catcher is finally showing off some of the offensive skills that the Rangers were dreaming on when they selected him in the first round of the 2024 draft. He’s set a career-high in HR (6) in only 127 PA in his third season at High-A and has 16 XBH on the season. He’s slashing .318/.409/.573 this year and has limited the strikeouts to 19.2% since the beginning of 2025, while hitting the ball on the ground less than 30% of the time. Moore was recently named the Sally League player of the week.

Congrats to @Spartanburgers_ Catcher Malcolm Moore on being named South Atlantic League Player of the Week!

Carlos Sanchez, 3B/SS, CIN

21 yo, High-A, 1% rostered on Fantrax, PL+ career/year 105/91 (-2.6 monthly change)

The 6'1 LHH is up to 18 XBH (3 HR) and 12 SB (4 CS) in 168 PA this year. Sanchez is slashing .327/.411/.503 and only striking out at a 19.6% clip so far. He's historically struggled to hit the ball consistently, and his contact rate and BABIP suggest regression is in store.

Carter Trice, OF, CHC

23 yo, Double-A, 0% rostered on Fantrax, PL+ career/year 111/88 (-3.8 monthly change)

The 2023 12th round pick has really struggled with strikeout and contact rates throughout his career, but is putting it all together this season. In 153 PA, he’s slashing .252/.359/.481 with 6 HR (17 XBH) and 6 SB (1 CS). He’s also running a career-best 22.9% strikeout rate and a 76.7% contact rate.
