"textContent": "Hello and welcome to the _Dynasty Baseball Pickups_ written series!\n\nWe’re taking a slight detour from our regularly scheduled programming; Raj and I will be swapping articles for the week. Be sure to watch out for Raj and Taylor on the podcast this weekend too!\n\nDon’t call it a comeback, they’ve been here for years. These prospects have been rocking their peers, putting pitchers in fear. With our prospect rankings getting an update earlier this week, I decided this would be a good time to focus on a few players who have been around for a while (maybe even years) and have seen their stock dip over time, but have been putting together a start to the year that’s helping their value bounce back. That means they might not be as easy to find on your waiver wire, but there will certainly be leagues where these players were dropped due to their poor performances in prior seasons. Where they can’t be had for free, this could still be an opportunity to buy low in trade.\n\nThis was a much easier trend to identify for hitters than for pitchers, so while I do have a trio of bats whose names will be familiar, the arms I’ve got for you in this article are much lesser known and should be much easier to find on your waiver wires. Now let's get into those names you need to know this week.\n\nMama said knock these picks out of the park.\n\n_Note: all stats current through Tuesday May 12/26 and all minor league Statcast data is sourced from TJ Stats unless otherwise stated._\n\n* * *\n\n## Weekend Pickups\n\n\n### _Seaver King_ - 23/SS/WSH/AA\n\nPhoto Credit: Brad Mills\n\n**Height/weight:** 6’0”/195\n\n**Bats/throws:** R/R\n\n**Fantrax roster%:** 24%\n\n**PLive+:** 108\n\n**PLive Prospect ranking (May ‘26):** 162\n\n**PLive Tools (‘26):** Hit: 40, Power: 40, Run: 60, Field: 55, Arm: 50se\n\n**2025 stats (A+/AA):** 551 PA, .244/.294/.337, 6 HR/30 SB, 21.1% K%/5.8% BB%, 88 wRC+\n\n**2026 stats (AA):** 141 PA, .333/.421/.581, 5 HR/4 SB, 19.9% K%/13.5% BB%, 161 wRC+\n\n**_Why To Pick Up_**\n\n _“Tools galore about sums up_ Seaver King_.”_\n\nThat was the first sentence of our scouting report on King prior to the 2025 season, when our scouts also gave him a more favorable 45 grade for his hit tool and a 55 grade for his power. Fast-forward a year, and the tools received a downgrade while the scouting report noted a disappointing first taste of pro ball. While it was by all accounts a rather disappointing season for the 2024 10th overall pick, his trip to the Arizona Fall League may have salvaged the year. King finished inside the top 10 in the AFL in AVG (.359), OBP (.468), SLG (.563), and OPS (1.031) and while we say all the time that AFL performances need to be taken with a grain of salt it may have been a sign of things to come.\n\nIn this year’s offseason scouting report, King’s aggressive approach (53.1% swing%) and tendency to fall behind in the count (52.1% first-pitch-strike%) were noted as likely contributors to his rough first full season. So far in 2026, however, he’s cut the overall swing rate down to 44.6% with a respectable 26.5% chase rate, and maybe most importantly, he’s cut his first-pitch-strike rate down to 37.6%, which means he’s putting himself in significantly more hitters' counts. While King’s overall contact rate (78.4% in 2025, 80% in 2026) and strikeout rate haven’t changed much year over year, his improved eye has resulted in a walk rate that is more than double what he posted last year, and the ability to put himself in more advantageous counts has resulted in a spike in power production. He has just one fewer home run this year in nearly 100 fewer games, his ISO has boosted more than 150 points, his SLG is up almost 250 points, and his OPS has jumped nearly 400 points.\n\n**_Why To Think Twice_**\n\nDespite the jump in power production, King’s pull-air% of 6.5% is still just the 16th percentile for Double-A. His ground-ball rate has improved significantly from 52.4% to 41.6% so far this year, but he’s still hitting around 40% of his batted balls to the opposite field. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but his power will really have to play more like the 55 grade our scouts gave him in 2025, or even beyond that, to continue hitting for the amount of power that his current 20% HR/FB rate has allowed him to.\n\n**_Final Thoughts_**\n\nI wasn’t a huge fan of King during last year’s FYPD cycle because he had played only one year against stronger college competition and was being pushed up the board by some due to his draft capital at 10th overall. That looked like a smart fade through the first year of his career, but now that he’s turning things around, I’m much more interested. He’s rising back up my ranks and well on his way to top 100 consideration.\n\n**Where to pick up:** Leagues with 100+ prospects rostered\n\n**FAAB bid:** Aggressive (10-15%)\n\n## Sign up for Prospects Live\n\nYour one stop shop for Dynasty Fantasy Baseball, MLB Draft, Baseball Card & MiLB Baseball content.
