"textContent": "Hello and welcome to the _Dynasty Baseball Pickups_ written series!\n\nWith the Complex leagues starting last weekend, we’ve got a whole new batch of players and data to get excited about, so I wanted to make sure I gave you a few specific names to watch. Because they are so far away, they’re going to be relatively deep recommendations, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth keeping an eye on in your shallower leagues, too. Every year, a handful of players blow up when they debut in complex ball, and I’m trying to help you find them.\n\nIn this article, you’ll find a bat that would be even more interesting if he wasn’t completely blocked at the big league level, an arm that has more than doubled his strikeout rate from last season, and a trio of Complex players just getting their seasons started; one hitter, one pitcher, and one two-player who unfortunately won’t be taking to the bump for a while. That’s enough preamble, though. Let's get into the names you need to know this week!\n\nDynasty Baseball Pickups - Prospects LiveRaj Mehta and Kyle SonntagProspects LiveRaj Mehta\n\n_Note: all stats current through Friday May 8/26 and all minor league Statcast data is sourced from TJ Stats unless otherwise stated._\n\n* * *\n\n## Weekend Pickups\n\n\n### _Charles McAdoo_ - 24/1B,3B/TOR/AAA\n\nPhoto Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck\n\n**Height/weight:** 6’1”/210\n\n**Bats/throws:** R/R\n\n**Fantrax roster%:** 4%\n\n**PLive+:** 131\n\n**PLive Prospect ranking (February ‘26):** 400\n\n**PLive Tools (2026):** Hit: 45, Power: 50, Run: 50, Field: 45, Arm: 50\n\n**2025 Stats (AA):** 494 PA, .247/.318/.413, 16 HR/34 SB, 27.7% K%/9.1% BB%, 113 wRC+\n\n**2026 Stats (AAA):** 141 PA, .286/.390/.496, 6 HR/5 SB, 19.1% K%/14.2% BB%, 136 wRC+\n\n**_Why To Pick Up_**\n\nThere isn’t a level of pro ball that McAdoo hasn’t hit at. The only time he hasn’t had a wRC+ of at least 110 was in Double-A in his first 37 games after being traded to the Jays in 2024, but that was sandwiched between a 27 game Double-A sample in the Pirates org in which he posted a 133 wRC+ and a full 121 game season at Double-A in 2025 in which he posted a 113 wRC+ (the lowest full season mark of his career). 2026 greeted McAdoo with a new challenge, his first taste of Triple-A, and so far, he’s met that challenge head-on and has shown the best approach of his career (23.6% chase rate and 14.2% walk rate) while making the most contact of his career (88.1% zone-contact, 78.8% overall-contact, and 8.4% swinging-strike rate). You could point to his small-sample pro debut in 2023, when he had better rates, but what he’s done in 2026 is already a larger, more meaningful sample.\n\nMcAdoo has also continued to display impressive power. His current .210 ISO is bested only by the time he spent in the Pirates organization in 2024, and while his average EV of 85.2 mph (per Prospect Savant) leaves something to be desired, his 90th percentile EV of 102.3 mph is closer to average for the level, and his max of 109.8 mph is well above average, as is his 11% barrel rate. Combining those EVs with a 63rd percentile air pull rate of 19.6% and strong approach and contact metrics means McAdoo will be able to continue getting the most out of his power.\n\nTo round out the profile, McAdoo isn’t a zero on the basepaths either. Our scouts gave him an average run grade,, and while he’s just 5-for-8 in stolen base attempts so far this year, he stole 34 bags on 40 attempts in Double-A last year. He’s not likely to give you 30+ or even 20+ steals in the bigs, but the possibility for double-digit steals from a corner infielder is a nice little cherry on top of the rest of the profile.\n\n**_Why To Think Twice_**\n\nThe biggest reason to think twice about McAdoo is the Blue Jays' team context. They have very few openings in their big league lineup, and the two positions McAdoo plays (1B and 3B) are locked down for the foreseeable future. Aside from that, the improved approach and contact rates he’s displayed this year have also come with an increase in ground balls, and at 40.9%, it is currently the highest of his career. It hasn’t hurt him yet, but if it continues trending toward 50%, it could become difficult for McAdoo to keep tapping into his power.\n\n**_Final Thoughts_**\n\nThe biggest thing holding me back from getting more excited about McAdoo is the team context. We all know Vlad isn’t going anywhere, and Kazuma Okamoto is under contract through 2029. McAdoo has played some OF and 2B in his career, but those appearances have been few and far between, and there aren’t many openings at those positions either. Without a major change of some sort (trade, injury, etc.), he’s going to have a difficult time cracking the big league roster. Because of that, I am tempering expectations a bit, but if a change should occur, he’ll be worth grabbing in much shallower leagues.\n\n**Where to pick up:** Leagues with 300+ prospects rostered\n\n**FAAB bid:** Minimal (0-5%)\n\n## Sign up for Prospects Live\n\nYour one stop shop for Dynasty Fantasy Baseball, MLB Draft, Baseball Card & MiLB Baseball content.
