"textContent": "Day by day, we are put to the test when it comes to starting pitchers. Between poor performances and injuries, we are constantly fighting an uphill battle. The good news is that we are all in this together. Let’s take another trip around the league as we review the latest starting pitching news.\n\nRotation Roundup - Prospects LiveProspects LiveRay Kuhn\n\n### Garrett Crochet**,** Boston Red Sox, LHP\n\nPhoto Credit: Noah K. Murray\n\nConsidering what we’ve seen from Crochet to begin the season, it’s not surprising to see him head to the Injured List. After six shutout innings against the Baltimore Orioles, while striking out seven, the timing of Crochet’s trip to the Injured List was interesting, though. Ultimately, the Red Sox are labeling it as inflammation, and he said he felt some fatigue during Saturday’s start. The outlook is optimistic, though, as the expectation is for Crochet’s time on the injured list to be the minimum 15 days. Crochet’s strikeouts are in line with last season, while his average fastball velocity is down slightly, from 96.5 to 96.1 miles per hour. Assuming he comes back healthy, I’d expect Crochet to bring his 6.30 ERA more in line with his 4.83 xERA and 3.69 xFIP.\n\n### Trey Yesavage, Toronto Blue Jays, RHP\n\nPhoto Credit: Denny Medley\n\nWell, that was easy. If anyone forgot, Yesavage was pretty good last season. He flew through all four levels of the minor leagues while striking out 14.6 batters per inning. In 98 innings, Yesavage had a 3.12 ERA, but that also came with a 2.52 FIP. And then came the postseason, where the young right-hander showed what he was capable of. He began the season on the Injured List, as Toronto played things cautiously. Yesavage was technically dealing with a right shoulder impingement, but he showed no signs of that or rust on Tuesday. It was also the perfect example of why we really shouldn’t pay attention to how a player performs during rehab assignments.\n\nYesavage finished with an 8.59 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in 14.2 innings, but that should be long forgotten. In his first start of the season, Yesavage shut the Boston Red Sox out over 5.1 innings. After allowing three hits in the first two innings, Yesavage then retired 11 of his 12 batters. Toronto slow-played Yesavage, as he threw only seventy-four pitches, but he also wasn’t going full bore. He uncharacteristically struck out just three batters while only generating five whiffs. However, we know what he’s capable of, and this is just the beginning for 2026.\n\n### Spencer Strider, Atlanta Braves, RHP\n\nPhoto Credit: Battery Power\n\nStrider will be making his first start of 2026 following an oblique injury in Colorado; likely Sunday (talk about an awful landing spot for your first start of the season). In his last rehab start, Strider threw 82 pitches over five innings, and while we don’t want to get hung up on rehab stats, Strider did finish with a 1.42 ERA over 12.2 innings while striking out batters at a pace of almost 13 per nine innings.\n\nWe know that 2025 was rough for Strider as he finished with a 4.45 ERA while striking out more than a batter per inning. He did struggle with control, 3.6 walks per nine innings, in what was an uneven season. After making just two starts in 2024, the hope now is that Strider is healthy and he can get back on track after his domination in 2023. At the very least, we’ll get strikeouts and run support.\n\n## Sign up for Prospects Live\n\nYour one stop shop for Dynasty Fantasy Baseball, MLB Draft, Baseball Card & MiLB Baseball content.
