Weekend Dynasty Baseball Pickups - April 19/26
Hello and welcome to the Dynasty Baseball Pickups written series! As we start to get bigger samples across the minor leagues, I find myself interested in more and more players to the point that I couldn’t fit everyone I wanted into this article. The benefit of that is the fact that I’ve already got a couple of names I feel very convinced about for next week’s episode, and I think they’re a couple of names that you’ll all get pretty excited about as well. This week, I’ve got a trio of outfield prospects with some really loud tools, including my first 0% rostered recommendation of the year, and a couple of arms posting eye-popping numbers early on despite very different profiles. Now, let's get into the names you need to know this week!

Why To Pick Up
In a word - strikeouts. In his first three professional starts since being drafted 69th overall, Quinn has racked up 23 Ks and a near 50% strikeout rate, thanks in large part to his high-octane arsenal. In college, his fastball sat mid-90s and topped out at 98, but so far in pro ball, he’s been sitting a tick or two higher and has already touched 99 mph. In his scouting report on Quinn, Jacob Maxwell called the slider a “wipeout” offering, and while the curveball has been less consistent, there have been flashes of at least an average third pitch. The strikeout stuff is nothing new, as Quinn held a 27.2% strikeout rate as a college Sophomore and boosted that number to 33.6% as a Junior. So, as eye-popping as a near 50% strikeout rate is, it isn’t necessarily a major surprise this early in the season. What's been most encouraging about his pro debut is actually the command, which did seem to take a step forward in his Junior year as well, as he improved his walk rate from 14.6% to 11.6%, but now he’s nearly cut it in half in his first taste of pro ball with a 5.9% walk rate so far in 2026 with a sterling 68.8% strike rate to go along with it.
Why To Think Twice
At the University of Georgia, Quinn totaled just 36 innings across 17 appearances (seven starts) prior to being drafted by the Orioles, and accrued just 74.2 innings total in his two years at the University of Mississippi prior to that. Further adding to the relief concerns, he delivers with a high-effort, straight-over-the-top approach that has led to some inconsistencies in his mechanics at times. It is worth noting, though, that Jacob Maxwell said “the mechanics felt a bit calmer” during his pre-draft stint in the Cape Cod League, and the numbers noted above could indicate that improvement is sticking as he makes his pro debut. He could also benefit from adding an offspeed pitch of some type to his arsenal, either a changeup or splitter of some kind, to better neutralize lefties as he climbs through the minors, but he’ll have time to develop that.
Final Thoughts
In his dynasty report on Quinn, Lucas Morel said he looked more like a watchlist candidate than an FYPD target due to RP risk and command concerns. While it’s still a small sample, and I don’t disagree with Lucas’ assessment at the time, I think it’s safe to say Quinn has moved past watchlist territory and should be in consideration as an add in medium-depth leagues at this point.
Where to pick up: Leagues with 300+ prospects rostered
FAAB bid: Moderate (5-10%)
