"textContent": "Hello and welcome to the _Dynasty Baseball Pickups_ written series! Another week into the season means we’re starting to get more legitimate sample sizes for minor leaguers. It’s still too early to truly be drawing any conclusions, but at least we now have more than just some offseason reports to go off. As the season wares on numbers get more reliable so keep that in mind with these early recommendations but I still think I’ve got some gems for you this week including a hitter who just made his big league debut, another making his pro debut after making a ton of noise in last year’s Draft Combine, a pitcher who will be more of a buy-low via trade than a true “pickup” in most leagues, a deep league bat off to a strong start, and my first repeat from last season in an arm whose stock I think is about to explode. So without further delay, let’s get into our second week of recommendations!\n\n**_Note: all stats current through Friday April 10/26 and all minor league Statcast data is sourced from TJ Stats unless otherwise stated._**\n\n* * *\n\n## **Weekend Pickups**\n\n\n### ** _Jurrangelo Cijntje_ - 22/SP/STL/AA**\n\nPhoto Credit: Yahoo Sports\n\n**Height/weight:** 5’11”/200\n\n**Throws:** S\n\n**Fantrax roster%:** 37%\n\n**PLive-:** 88\n\n**PLive Prospect ranking (February 2026):** 148\n\n**PLive Tools (2026):** Fastball: 60, Curveball: 55, Slider: 60, Changeup: 55, Command: 45\n\n**2025 stats (A+/AA):** 108.1 IP, 3.99 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 26.1% K%/11.1% BB%\n\n**2026 stats (AA):** 8.2 IP, 6.23 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, 27.5% K%/17.5% BB%\n\n**_Why To Pick Up_**\n\nLet's be honest, Cijntje probably isn’t available in any of your dynasty leagues, no matter how shallow the prospect pool might be. On the off chance that he is, run to grab him right now, but the rest of you should consider this an endorsement to buy him via trade.Since he’s already such a highly valued name, why is now the time to buy? For that answer, we have to focus on his ambidexterity and the Mariners' statement that he would only throw right-handed in games in 2026 (though they said he would continue throwing left-handed in bullpens). That was prior to his trade to St. Louis, and while the Cardinals have not announced the same, he has operated solely with his right arm through his first two starts of the 2026 campaign. This is important because he is a much better pitcher with his right arm than his left - while he didn’t exclusively pitch left-handed to left-handed batters, his splits paint a very clear picture:\n\n * 2025 vs RHH: 256 batters faced, 76 Ks (29.7%), 12 BBs (4.6%), 0.78 WHIP\n * 2025 vs LHH: 203 batters faced, 44 Ks (21.7%), 39 BBs (19.2%), 1.98 WHIP\n\n\n\nThis highlights the fact that not only is Cijntje’s stuff with his left arm significantly behind that of his right, but so is his command, so focusing on his better arm should yield much better results overall and push him up prospect rankings.\n\n**_Why To Think Twice_**\n\nThe main drawback of this recommendation is Cijntje's popularity, which could make him a difficult buy, either as a pickup or via trade. Most who drafted him a year ago will likely want to hold and see what they’ve got out of the unique prospect, but with his ranking being around 150 overall on our list, as well as many other fantasy-focused lists around the industry, you might be able to get him with an aggressive offer of a fringe top 100 prospect. It might look like a bit of an overpay today, but by the end of the year, I think it could look like a steal.\n\n**_Final Thoughts_**\n\nWhile a major part of the buzz surrounding Cijntje has been his ability to throw with both arms, it has been clear that his left arm is significantly behind his right. If he truly is going to focus on pitching with just his right arm going forward, then his stock is about to explode. He sits closer to top 150 value at present than top 100 overall, but a strong showing in Double-A to start the 2026 season should push him well inside the top 100. Although he won’t be available in many dynasty leagues, now could be an excellent opportunity to buy low before the hype takes off, especially since his second start of the year was a rough one and might leave owners with a sour taste in their mouth.\n\n**Where to pick up:** Leagues with 75+ prospects rostered\n\n**FAAB bid:** Aggressive (10-15%)\n\n## Sign up for Prospects Live\n\nYour one stop shop for Dynasty Fantasy Baseball, MLB Draft, Baseball Card & MiLB Baseball content.
