"textContent": "\nIf you are reading this, you are wading in the Mariana Trench of fantasy baseball. Why are you even here? Do you like to suffer? Or are you just here as a tourist, curious to see the sights? Hopefully, you’re not in an OceanGate submersible; you don’t want to get crushed. With all the pressure from above, things get weird down here.\n\nStarters tend to fit into neat little boxes; they have to get hitters out multiple times through the order, and do that 30 or so times a year, so they get into a routine and go with what works. There are starters who are different, no doubt, but the vast majority are normal. Relievers are a dime a dozen, though, and extremely replaceable. If you want to stand out as a reliever, you have to be extremely different. Whether it’s a fastball that sits 100 with elite ride like Ryan Lambert, or a changeup that moves like an opposite-handed pitcher’s sweeper like Craig Yoho, funk is the name of the game. Be different, and be so different that it’s impossible to find anybody else to replace you.\n\nAt the end of the day, relief pitching is an important part of every team. Most category leagues have saves and/or holds as tracked stats, so it’s important to get guys who can become high-leverage relievers. While that’s not as pressing a need in points leagues, many points leagues do have start limits, so it’s still important to have great pitchers who can earn points without starting the game. Admittedly, many of the guys in the latter half are still a ways away from being impact arms, but many of the guys at the top could see leverage opportunities as soon as this year.\n\n2026 Prospect Previews - Prospects LiveProspects LiveProspects Live Staff\n\n### 1. Luinder Avila, KCR, RHP (MLB)\n\n_82 PLIVE-, Peak Projection: 4.43 ERA, 20.8% K, 10.7% BB, 10.1% K-BB, 48.4% GB_\n\nPhoto Credit: milb.com\n\nAvila largely held his control gains from 2024, but a mid-season shoulder injury derailed his season. He did make it back in time to earn himself a promotion to the big leagues, albeit in a relief role. He experienced a velocity jump and performed well in the new role, averaging nearly 96 mph and striking out almost 30% of opposing hitters on his way to a 1.29 ERA in 14 innings. He's currently expected to begin the year back in Triple-A, but should another arm be needed in Kansas City, he's likely to be one of the top options. The uncertainty around what his role will be with the big league club deflates his value, but if he gets a shot in the rotation, he could be an interesting flier in a deeper league. - Kyle Sonntag\n\n### 2. Chase Shores, LAA, RHP (CPX)\n\n_No MiLB Data_\n\nPhoto Credit: Rebecca S. Gratz\n\nShores did well to improve upon his 2023 freshman campaign at LSU and rebounded further from a 2024 Tommy John delay, which pre-empted his Sophomore season. In 2025, the extra-large 6’8”, 245-pound right-hander posted ugly numbers outwardly (including a 5.09 ERA and 1.46 WHIP), but struck out 70 batters in 63.2 innings (good for a 24.6% strikeout rate) and allowed his big-league fastball to eat against lesser competition. In his time in Baton Rouge, Shores started 43% of his outings (57% starts in 2023, 39% in 2025), and some hoped his draft organization might help to optimize him as a powerful five-inning starter for the next level; others believe Shores is destined for late-inning work, owing to a brilliant relief appearance in Game Two of LSU’s 2025 National Championship victory, shutting down Coastal Carolina with one hit and four strikeouts across 2.2 innings. Shores did not debut last season and is a prime candidate for the mid-rounds in FYPDs, ranking 354th of all prospects and 59th among First-Year Players exclusively. - Drew Wheeler\n\n### 3. Emiliano Teodo, TEX, RHP (AAA)\n\n_88 PLIVE-, Peak Projection: 4.71 ERA, 22.7% K, 13.6% BB, 9.0% K-BB, 43.2% GB_\n\nPhoto Credit: Dallas Morning News\n\nTeodo entered 2025 with a good dose of hype after he cruised through Double-A to the tune of a 1.98 ERA over 86 IP as a starter. Command has always been a major issue for the Dominican flamethrower, and the Rangers must have figured it was safer to convert his stuff into a reliever role in 2025. Unfortunately, this past season saw his erratic nature rise to a 20% walk rate, and his prospect shine has suffered in a correlated manner. He’ll play 2026 as a 25-year-old, and while he’s still on the smaller side, it’s likely Emiliano Teodo is closer to 6’1 180lbs than his listed 165lb frame. The Rangers and dynasty owners alike are hoping this kid can find some kind of balance between his nasty strikeout upside and unacceptable command. If he can figure it out, it’s not hard to imagine him as the Rangers’ closer of the future - a possible buy-low moment! - Darren Eisenhauer\n\n### 4. Craig Yoho MIL, RHP (MLB)\n\n_81 PLIVE-, Peak Projection: 4.36 ERA, 26.4% K, 10.7% BB, 15.7% K-BB, 46.5% GB_\n\n## Sign up for Prospects Live\n\nYour one stop shop for Dynasty Fantasy Baseball, MLB Draft, Baseball Card & MiLB Baseball content.
