"textContent": "Two high school football players announced their commitments to BYU on Sunday as part of the Cougars’ 2027 recruiting class.\n\nJaxson Rex is an athlete from San Clemente, California, who chose BYU over UCLA and a number of other programs, On3’s Greg Biggins reported Sunday.\n\n> 100% Committed #GoCougs@BYUfootball @Coach_Popp @DemarioWarren @lew_walk7 pic.twitter.com/ucXe1eiVa9\n>\n> — Jaxson (@jaxson_rex14) June 21, 2026\n\nIf Rex’s last name sounds familiar in relation to BYU football, it’s because his uncle Byron played for the Cougars in the early ‘90s, and several cousins (Byron Rex’s sons) have played for the team in recent years (one, running back Preston Rex, will be a senior in 2026).\n\nMeanwhile, kicker/punter James Thorley also announced his pledge to the Cougars on social media.\n\nThorley hails from Burke, Virginia, about 20 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.\n\n> 100% COMMITTED🏠🔵⚪️\n>\n> Blessed to announce my commitment to Brigham Young University! I’m so thankful to my Heavenly Father, family, coaches, and all of those who have supported me along the way.#GoCougs@kalanifsitake @dyl_almond @Justin__Ena @HKA_Tanalski @mdoc376 @moorepete18 pic.twitter.com/mlmJXCtXfZ\n>\n> — James Thorley (@imjamesthorley) June 21, 2026\n\nIn all, it was a big recruiting weekend for the BYU football program. According to Sports Illustrated’s Casey Lundquist, the Cougars hosted a bunch of their top targets in the Class of 2027, both players who are already committed as well as some who are currently uncommitted to a school.\n\nAccording to Lundquist, the following committed prospects were on BYU’s campus this weekend:\n\n * Jeremiah Williams\n * Moa Havili\n * Tytan DeJong\n * Ryan Wooten Jr.\n * Ezra Sanelivi\n * Jaxson Rex\n * James Thorley\n\n\n\nAccording to Lundquist, the following uncommitted prospects also visited:\n\n * Bode Sparrow\n * Uhila Wolfgramm\n * Kamoni Adams\n * Brody Rudnicki\n * Kyle Nabrotzky\n * Moa Brown\n * Lakepa Satuala\n * Peyton Higginson\n * Owen Leishman\n\n",
