  "textContent": "Looking for an affordable place to live in the Intermountain West?\n\nThe hyperlocal social networking platform Nextdoor has compiled a list of the cheapest spots by state, using government and privately compiled data including median home values, rents and tax rates.\n\nHere’s how much Americans need to make now to afford a home\n\nThe website, intended to share community news, safety alerts and allow participants to buy and sell items, also considered “platform signals reflecting how residents live and engage in their communities.”\n\nHere’s Nextdoor’s top five cheapest places to live in the region by state:\n\n**Utah**\n\n  * **Enoch** tops the list, “a small, friendly town in southern Utah, known for its peaceful atmosphere and close-knit community. It’s surrounded by beautiful landscapes, with easy access to outdoor activities. The town also has good schools and a low crime rate.”\n  * The Iron County, Utah, community is followed by **Washington Terrance** , located just south of Ogden; **Price** , a hub for the region’s coal mining; **Hill Air Force Base** ’s military housing; and **Perry,** part of northern Utah’s “Fruit Way.”\n\n\n\n**Arizona**\n\n  * **Douglas** ranks No. 1 as “a quiet, friendly border town known for its rich history and beautiful architecture. Nextdoor Neighbors appreciate the tight-knit community atmosphere and the town’s cleanliness. It’s a peaceful place with a unique charm.”\n  * Next for Arizona are **Holbrook** , near the Petrified National Forest; **Thatcher,** “known for its beautiful bird species;” **Bisbee** , a historic mining town; and **Nogales** , another “friendly border town.”\n\n\n\n**Colorado**\n\n  * **Burlington** came in first as “a small, friendly town known for its Old Town Museum and Kit Carson County Carousel. Nextdoor Neighbors appreciate its clean, quiet atmosphere and family-friendly events, making it a charming place to live.”\n  * Rounding out the Colorado list are **Crestone** , “known for its spiritual retreat centers and stunning natural beauty;” **Lamar** , one of the state’s best birding destinations; **Rangely** , with “a rich oil history and outdoor activities;” and **Rocky Ford** , “known for its sweet cantalopes.”\n\n\n\n**Idaho**\n\n  * **Soda Springs** ranked highest as “a peaceful, family-friendly town known for its geyser and historic Oregon Trail landmarks.
