Several White House reporters said on social media that they were escorted away from the North Lawn following the incident and relocated inside the briefing room. President Donald Trump gave scheduled remarks at a small business summit located at the White House.

The shooting comes just one week after an attempted assassination against Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. That incident has resulted in heightened security presence at certain areas in Washington, D.C.

The circumstances around the shooting were not immediately clear. The Deseret News contacted the Secret Service for more information.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
