Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed a sudden and significant change to its retail strategy, confirming that production of physical game discs will cease for all future titles beginning in 2028. According to a statement from Sony, all new titles released for PlayStation consoles after January 2028 will be available solely as digital editions through the PlayStation Store and select digital retailers.
