An endangered shorebird gets help from the East Bay Parks — and a small army of volunteers

A wildlife biologist with the park system has been working for nearly 30 years, with 8,000 volunteers, to create nesting habitats in Oakland and Hayward for the California least tern and other threatened shorebirds.
