Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Mazzei pitched his plan to eliminate Oklahoma's personal income tax, phase out property taxes for seniors and launch a Mississippi-style literacy program during an appearance before the Stillwater Frontier Rotary Club on Thursday, July 9, at the Best Western Plus Cimarron Hotel & Suites.

Mazzei, a Tulsa financial planner who served 12 years in the Oklahoma Senate and as Gov. Kevin Stitt's secretary of budget from 2019 to 2020 โ€” the first person to hold that cabinet position โ€” faces Attorney General Gentner Drummond in the Aug. 25 Republican runoff. The winner will face Democrat Cyndi Munson, the minority leader of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, in the Nov. 3 general election.
