Northern Cardinal

At around 7 AM, it is quiet enough to hear a bird clearly before you see it. The sound stands out, but the source is not obvious at first. I stop, listen, and try to narrow it down. My walk route is a loop with a short out-and-back. I walk to Jackson Avenue, follow it as it curves, then cut across to Blue Spring Road. I continue to Andover Court, turn around, and retrace my steps. Then I take Hoover Avenue to Salisbury Road and follow it home. It takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending on how often I stop. This Northern Cardinal was calling from a tree on Jackson Avenue. The leaves are filling in now, which makes it harder to see. I shifted a few steps until I found a clear gap. The red stood out once I had the angle. I was standing in the middle of the road when I took the photo.
