Pebble Time 2 Review: Resurrection Time
Back in December 2016, I wrote an obituary for a smartwatch I'd first slapped on in 20 13 … the original Pebble that would effectively launch the entire category. Nine years later, I’m happy to report that I was wrong – because Pebble is back. And not via some kind of licensing trickery, either; instead, Pebble’s founder Eric Migicovsky recovered the trademark; convinced Google to open-source the original software; and cobbled together the bare minimum of bucks and bodies needed to build a new generation of Pebbles.
The result is the closest thing to a tech time capsule I’ve seen; a smartwatch with a soul that dates back more than a decade – made for people who’ve spent the years in between yearning for what they’d lost. I’m MrMobile and … it’s “Pebble Time” (2).
