Why You've Never Heard of Russian Collaborators

For decades, Russians have promoted an image of themselves as “pure and uncompromising anti-Nazi fighters” while condemning other nations for collaborating with Nazi Germany. Yet in absolute numbers of those who served in German military units, Russians hold the undisputed first place. Unlike the collaborators of other nations, however, Russian collaborators have always remained a taboo topic both in the USSR and in modern Russia.
