"textContent": "What you saw in the Olympics was only one side of the sport.\n\nBonus info:\n\n(1) Alpine luge tracks can also be snow tracks, not iced ones like Lucy Hill. To my knowledge, there are no competition-length snow tracks in the U.S., although there is a snow track in Washington.\n\n(2) If you're wondering about the luge track in Muskegon, Michigan, that's a hybrid: It's an artificially-constructed, banked track, but the ice is not refrigerated.\n\nSpecial thanks to Robb Cookman, his family, and the Upper Peninsula Luge Club for being such wonderful hosts. If you want to learn more about them (and learn how to find a public sliding day next winter), here's their website: https://www.upluge.org/. You can also support the club through their donations page: https://www.upluge.org/store/c12/Donations.html\n\n✨ Want to support my work? Well, hey, thank you so much.
