"textContent": "A friend posted “a very lightly used Olympus 35mm SLR kit that was given to me by a neighbour when they downsized last year… Cover the postage from western Canada and it’s yours.” I raised my hand enthusiastically. It arrived today. Noticed it had film loaded with 12 exposures taken and immediately tried to fire off some shots to no avail. The viewfinder was dark and blurry. Opened the instruction manual and the first step was clear “PREPARATIONS BEFORE TAKING PICTURES” and then went on to mention batteries. I was gonna need some of those! This camera has a lot in common with my dad’s Canon AE-1, but this Olympus has aperture-priority. (In brief, you set the aperture and the camera figures out the shutter speed.) It’s a great beginner film camera and I am continually a beginner. Perhaps I can use this for Pat Perry’s Liminal Bingo photo scavenger hunt. Excited to see what to make with this (and find out what those lingering 12 snapshots might be). I tip my hat most graciously to Grant. — Olympus OM-10 instruction manual",
