This capability allows organizations to move individual SharePoint files or folders into low-cost archival storage while keeping them visible in their original location. This helps reduce storage costs and optimize content lifecycle management without losing metadata, permissions, or compliance coverage.\n\nThis message is associated with **Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID** 477371.\n\n**[When this will happen]**\n\n  * **Public Preview:** Available now.\n  * **General Availability (Worldwide)** : Rollout begins in **late June 2026** and is expected to complete by**late July 2026**.\n\n\n\n**[How this affects your organization]**\n\n_Who is affected_\n\n  * SharePoint administrators\n  * Users in organizations that enable **Microsoft 365 Archive** and**file-level archiving**\n\n\n\n _What will happen_\n\n  * File-level archiving is **not enabled by default**.
