This update helps authors create pages that follow accessibility best practices and consistent document structure.\n\n**[When this will happen:]**\n\n  * Targeted Release (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in **mid-May 2026** and expect to complete by **mid-May 2026**.\n  * General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in**late May 2026** and expect to complete by **late May 2026**.\n\n\n\n**[How this affects your organization:]**\n\n**Who is affected:** All users who create or edit pages in SharePoint Online.\n\n**What will happen:**\n\n  * Authors can select **H1** from the heading level options in supported web part title areas.\n  * Screenshot: _Style selector including Heading 1:_\n  * Selecting H1 is optional and must be explicitly chosen.\n  * Existing pages are not changed.\n  * All existing heading level options (**H2–H6**) remain unchanged in behavior and availability.\n  * The page banner continues to default to **H1**.\n  * Custom fonts are preserved regardless of heading level.\n  * The feature is **enabled by default**.\n\n\n\n**[What you can do to prepare:]**\n\n  * **No admin action is required.**\n  * Optionally notify SharePoint page authors about the new **H1 option**.\n  * Update internal authoring or accessibility guidance if applicable.\n  * Prepare help desk staff for questions about heading levels.\n\n\n\n**[Compliance considerations:]**\n\nAuthors can choose whether or not to select H1 when editing a web part title.",
