Beyond 'business as usual'

"Business as usual" is a common refrain in cities like Dubai as burning debris from missile interceptions continues to rain from the sky.

As Earned First recently noted, the government response from Gulf states to Iran's attacks has largely been clear, timely and well managed. The UAE, for instance, is realistic about the fact that Iranian rockets and drones present an ongoing threat, but has emphasised its ability to protect its residents. Even as some expats flee, many others feel relatively secure staying put.

Even so, the reality for most corporations is that operations are far from usual. And they have a significant responsibility to communicate the nuances of the situation clearly to their people. The question in the Gulf today is whether their internal communications efforts are improving a fraught situation.
