Second Annual Tennent Lecture on World Christianity
On April 20 IRD’s John Wesley Institute (JWI) hosted the Second Annual Tennent Lecture in Washington, DC. Dr. Timothy Tennent spoke on, “Longing for the Lost Caliphate: the Religious Context of the Current conflict with Iran.”
Tennent, an American Methodist missiologist and expert on world Christianity, joined IRD’s John Wesley Institute as Distinguished Fellow in 2024, working to promote formation in the Wesleyan tradition. He serves as the Methodist Chair at Beeson Divinity School, Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Tennent served for 15 years as the President of Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky having also served on the faculty at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts.
JWI promotes Wesleyan theological education and witness in the church and in society.
