"textContent": "Hi friends,\n\nWe're writing to flag a correction to the recent article, which you received with the title \"Our Langley's MLAs Just Voted to Gut Human Rights Protections. We Deserve Better.\"\n\nThe original version of this piece stated that all three of Langley's Conservative MLAs voted in favour of first reading of the Human Rights Code Repeal Act on Feb. 26.\n\nA reader reached out to let us know this wasn't accurate, and after reviewing the official Votes and Proceedings from the Legislative Assembly, we've confirmed that Langley-Walnut Grove MLA Misty Van Popta was not recorded in either the Yeas or Nays on this vote.\n\nMLA Van Popta did not vote either Yea or Nay on the the \"Human Rights Code Repeal Act\"\n\nShe was present in the legislature for other votes later that day, but was not part of this particular division.\n\nWe sincerely apologize to MLA Van Popta for the error.\n\nThe article has been updated to reflect the corrected record. You can read the revised version here:\n\nLangley’s MLAs Voted to Gut Human Rights ProtectionsTwo of Langley’s three Conservative MLAs voted to advance a bill repealing the entire BC Human Rights Code. The third was absent without explanation. They call it procedural courtesy, but they blocked other far-right bills before. This is exactly the kind of engagement that makes community journalism work.\n\nEvery article we publish has a short survey link at the bottom, and every single submission is read and, when necessary, acted on.\n\nIf you ever spot something that doesn't look right, whether it's a factual error, a missing detail, or something that needs more context, please don't hesitate to let us know.\n\nThe sooner we hear from you, the sooner we can get it right.\n\nGetting the facts right matters more than getting them first. When we fall short of that standard, we owe it to you and to the people we cover to say so clearly.\n\nThank you for holding us to it.\n\nRespectfully,\n\nRainer Fehrenbacher\nPublisher, The Langley Union\n\n* * *\n\n### What did you think?\n\nHelp us improve!
