Madonna’s Confessions II To Be Released On July 3rd
It’s unclear whether the official title is Confessions II , COADF 2 , or Confessions On A Dance Floor Part 2 , (all three titles appear on her website, which has been completely redesigned to promote the album), but Madonna announced today that her new album will be released on July 3rd. I think it’ll be Confessions II , as that’s how it appears on the album’s Wikipedia page. A brief press release from Madonna:
When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto: We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect—with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people. Sound, light, and vibration reshape our perceptions, pulling us into a trance-like state. The repetition of the bass, we don’t just hear it but we feel it. Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.
OK.
A very brief snippet from what could be the album’s first single was also released, and it’s a great tease. After a spoken word intro, it cuts off right before the beat (and presumably the first verse) is about to drop. Fantastic:

There are unfounded rumors that Madonna will be at Coachella this weekend for a surprise appearance with Sabrina Carpenter on Friday night, but those rumors could’ve been started by a stan account on Twitter, so I’m not counting on anything. Either way, I look forward to the first single, and I look forward to seeing what Madonna actually looks like (I feel like I haven’t seen her face in years) without humongous sunglasses, a veil, or 50 zillion photoshop filters, assuming she does interviews and live performances ahead of the album’s release.
